Starting things off!

Sunday June 30th, 2013:

Hello fellow Interweb users! Because I'm terribly bored with my summer life thus far, I've decided to emulate some friends and blog away. I know what you're thinking: all of my friends who are bloggers have been studying abroad in some fascinating and magical place and have wonderfully exciting things to share. You're probably also figure that I will have nothing of note to write here. Well, my friend, you are right on both counts! But if you keep reading, I promise that you will not be disappointed! Mainly because from this point on you should have very low, if any, standards.

It all started on a dreary Sunday afternoon as the fog was rolling in over the mystical town (or rather, hamlet) I've come to know as Centereach. Anyone who knows me is aware of the garden that I am cultivating on my back patio. I am happy to report that I have vegetables growing! I repeat: SWOLLEN OVARIES OF EDIBLE PLANTS ARE APPEARING IN MY BACKYARD. Oh wait, that's fruits...nevermind it sounds better that way. Now, if you follow me on any other social media sites (i.e. twitter, tumblr, instagram) you probably have already gathered from the pictures and tweets that I may have a slight obsession with my peppers, tomatoes, and especially my chocolate mint. If not, suffice it to say, I love my plants (and all plants for that matter) very much.

The whole reason for this specific post has nothing to do with the pragmatic and common members of my backyard farm. In fact, today's culinary milestone is directly related to the seemingly useless chocolate mint plant! It has been quite the struggle with little Minty (I'm trying the name out, we'll see what happens) and after one hauntingly near death experience, I never thought I'd see the day when my mint plant would be healthy again. Luckily that day has come, and more importantly, my fresh chocolate mint tea (with honey) has also come. Piping hot and rich in minty goodness, this single cup of tea has affirmed everything I knew to be true when I (and by I, I mean my mother) purchased little Minty about a month ago. I couldn't be more happy with the progress of my garden! Making mint tea also leaves so much room for horrible puns, which needless to say, amuses me to no end. Frankly, and unfortunately, it is the most exciting aspect of my life at the moment. #thuglyfe

To keep you satiated until my next post (who knows when that will be) here are some candide pics from the one and only garden in my life.
